WW I issue

I have been reading a series of volumes titled 'The US Air Service in WWI' and in a lot of the pictures a lot of the pilots / crew members are wearing the same type of jacket. It appears about thigh length leather with a wool or cloth collar.
Was there a standard issue ?

Looks to me that this style was either very common, or issued. (scroll to the bottom of the pics) viewtopic.php?f=3&t=6969&start=10

It also looks like some of them have a woolen collar, and some have a leather collar. I wonder if anyone on here knows of a current maker of a jacket like this. I know Eastman's Brooklands coat is similar, as is their Luftwaffe coat, but their lapels are much more narrow than these early flying jackets and appear much more fitted as well. Has anyone seen a jacket that is close to these?
