Just finished reading Out in Front by Witold ‘Lanny’ Lanowski There was a comment he made that I found very interesting.
During the latter part of his stint with the 56th FG, he agreed to have his 'emblem' painted on the nose of his new P-47M.
He chose something he and a friend had designed for a magazine cover back in Poland in 1940/41.
But, he also had a small replica of this emblem painted on a piece of cardboard and sewed to his A-2 jacket.
Ye gods! I couldn't imagine that lasting long.
However, after a little digging, I found photos of his original jacket with the 'apparently' well-preserved patch.
Once again shows how, during war-time, anything goes.
Secondly, to my eye, that looks like a Doniger.
For those keen to know more, his book, Out if Front, is a decent read.
