Now it occured to me that most WW2 USAAF type art had either women or aircraft featured and I had hit on an idea to combine the two. Not having a spare A2 I decided that I would create a jacket that commemorated my service but with a ww2 slant. The RAF Regiment gunners are responsible for all aspects of ground protection of RAF assets and have been since feb '42. They earned themselves the nickname Rockapes very early on although the legends as to how do vary. in any event, when it came to devising an apelike figure with a fondness for skirt and raising hell and a penchant for bringing down aircraft, there was only one choice.

I added the unit patch of 63 squadron, a squadron I served on and have some of my fondest memories. I felt that it should be close to the USAAF style if at all possible, just to kep the spirit of the jacket.
The jacket itself is a well rendered repro M41 that had USN stencilled on the breast and the nape. I think it may be a hoot to wear to one of the less formal reunions... I also did a quick patch for a friend, that being the 'flying turd' winged wheel of no 2 squadron RAF Regiment, a parachute capable unit.

Its a departure from the norm which I did for a bit of fun....
