3800 Yen comes to approx 37.00 cn
Why am I seeing some people asking $250.00 for a zipper ?
I am assuming MASH are repro and originals are $250 ?

MASH are originals.

People pay $250 or whatever because they don't know any better...

The reply for Eastman is that they are waaaay to busy to do the work and they suggest that I try again next spring
Way too busy making a fortune to deal with customer service. Bad, bad form. Good luck in sourcing a suitable zipper. When you do, I'm sure you will have no trouble finding someone to fit it locally. I stopped using specialist firms for jacket repairs years ago after some bad experiences with Aero and now use a local firm who will do anything that's required at a fraction of the price and a fraction of the time.

Just had a nice email from Gary at Eastman and he confirms that he can sell me a replacement zipper
All he requested is that I send a picture of the broken one on my jacket
No idea of what he charges at this point

Will update when I hear back ........

Further from Eastman:

They can supply the zipper at a cost of $25 pounds
However, they do not encourage this method as the zipper length has to be adjusted by removing some teeth and this is apparently a very tricky thing to do without causing damage to the zipper cloth .
The other alternative, is to have then do it but would have to wait till at least next spring
I wonder is some other Jacket makers would take on this job ?
Goodwear? Bill Kelso ?

I would imagine that most every jacket company is very busy this time of year with Christmas production.

I would try and order more than one, in case you do damage the cloth removing the extra zipper teeth.

I've wanted one of those zippers for ages, but I was told Eastman never sell the zipper unless it's sewn in one of their jackets! If they're willing to sell it at all, I would go for it.

Due to the fact that it is pretty much Irvin weather now here in Canada , I am playing with the idea of sending it to ELC as I won't need an A2 till spring anyway
I have asked when they would want it sent and am waiting a response.

Update:
Gary asked me to hold off sending my jacket until March
I did just that sending to him around the first week of March
Additionally I decided to have Eastmans also replace the cuff and waistband
The jacket arrived in England and I was told there would be a 6-8 week turnaround for repairs .
To my pleasant surprise , Alan emailed me last Thurs to say my jacket was completed and ready to ship.
Overall , I am very happy with their service and I am sure will be happy with the work .
Once I have it back I will post some pictures
