I hope the kids in America behold what Halloween is however, over here in the UK we have a mischief night were feral kids cause mayhem the night before. I have seen car damage on a scale that costs everyone £000’s to repair, boil them in oil I say. Cattle prod at the ready.

Yikes. We used to call it devil’s night. Usually just throwing eggs and soaping windows. Years ago I had some kid hit my windshield with what turned out to be a plastic cup full of white glue. Damn near broke my neck chasing him through the bush. Never caught the little bugger.

Really? I'm glad I don't live near you then. Nothing like that around here, just small children going from house to house escorted by their parents indulging an imported custom. Now when I was a kid knocking on front doors then legging it was our halloween night entertainment. Alternatively wearing old sheets, cutting two holes to see out of and jumping out on unsuspecting people making as scary noises as kids can manage - then legging it.
Simple pleasures.

Fortunately where I live now is well off the beaten track and far too dark, unlit and scary for little people to venture, besides we live in the area where Back Shuck roams the fields after nightfall...

We’re rural and haven’t seen a Halloweener since we moved here in 2014. Was the same growing up in the country. My old man would load us and a few distant neighbours into his van and dump us in town for the evening.

I have many good memories of being a kid on Halloween. When I was 7 or 8 and we were still living in town, myself and 2 friends got jumped by a couple older kids. They basically kicked the shit out of us and stole our loot. Pretty common back then. When I got home my 2 older brothers freaked out. We knew who they were so off my brothers went. They’re 5 and 6 years older than me. They returned a while later, looking pretty rough, with all our stuff (and then some) While my mum was giving them shit, my dad just smiled at them and gave them a wink. As if to say I’m glad you’re finally looking out for your little brother. Up until then, it was Me being picked on by my brothers.

Here in the States, it used to be just the kids who dressed up. Now it seems like there are just as many adults as kids dressed up walking around for trick or treat. I can't for life of me imagine my father ever getting in a costume.
No offense to the guy dressed up as Hilts. :)

I don’t remember seeing any adults out when I was kid. Before we moved here we were in a town of around 30000. Got lots of kids but always escorted. The adults would stand on the sidewalk while the kids came to the door. Some were even driving them from door to door. It’s a shame. I think the kids are really missing out. But I guess that’s the world we live in now.
