This Dubow 1755 jacket is made from cow hide which according to Eastmans' book is the correct hide for that contract. I still remember the discussions we had years back, as to weather horse hide or cow hide was the correct hide for many of these contracts. I was looking at his book last night, and was surprised to see the number of different manufacturers and contracts that now are listed as being made from cow hide.
