I recently picked up a CWU 36 and a CWU 45.

CWU 36 tag reads:

Large(42-44)
8415-01-010-1910
Jacket, Flyer's, Men's, Summer
Type CWU - 36/P
MIL-J-83382C
DLA100-93-C-0323
100% Aromatic Polyamide
Carter Industries, Inc.

CWU 45 tag reads:

Large (42-44)
Jacket, Flyer's, CWU 45/P
DLA100-90-C-0399
100% Aromatic Polyamide
8415-00-310-1133
MIL-J-83388
Istratex, Inc.

Any info on year of manufacture would be great.

They are both in great shape. The 36 has Army W-2 WO bars on the shoulders, which will be removed before I wear it in public. I didn't realize the Army also issued these, or could someone have picked it up in trade?

The 45 is in great shape too but had two short pen marks where the owner missed the pocket putting a pen away. Both came directly from the govt. and I picked them up at a surplus store. They had a bunch, and I picked the two best condition ones I could find. I even found a govt. form in the pocket of the 45 officially declaring it unservicable and surplus. Funny since it is in fine shape.

They also had several of the cloth Army jackets, but they were in rougher shape.

I was looking these up on E-bay to see how well I did on price. Is it me, or have the price of these fallen lately? I seem to remember looking up actual issue polyamide jackets a year or so ago and they were all over $100 or more, sometimes 300.

Anyway, I am pleased with both jackets, and think I did pretty well.

The 36 is 1993 and the 45 is 1990 the number right after the DLA 100 is the year of manufacture. The pre 1990 ones are the ones that go for more as they have the "pleats" in the back. I think because there are lots of these around the price has gone down. I picked up a 1980 CWU-36 with the pleats in almost mint condition for about 65 bucks on ebay (that was with the shipping).
