A2s in your collection

There seem to be fewer posts these days about original A2s. I know quite a few members own original A2s. Which ones do you own?

Here are the ones currently in my collection. For most of the jackets there are links to earlier threads on this site.

Just a Perry Sportswear 42-16175-P-size 44 for daily wear now. Images to follow when I have time to take photos.

Perry, F16 and I sweltering at Farnborough 2010. Still one of the most beautiful modern aircraft despite its age IMO. Too warm for an A2 in truth.

I envy you all that have these original A2s in your collection. I'd love to own an original some day. For now it's just my repro Buzz Rough Wear and soon a GW A2. ;)

Quick pics thanks to the 6 1/2 year old daughter (a few artsy shots?) only 2 original A-2's but both are very sturdy wearers. As stated in your repro thread, I got back into originals semi-recently and held out for a few wearers that I felt would hold up well with regular yet careful use.

Just the two: twins almost. A Perry in lighter russett horsehide, and another in (I think) resprayed darker russett horsehide. Love 'em both, can't bear to part with either!

I have just posted a reply showing my favourite Repro A2's at the moment but I have never been lucky to own an
Original A2.
So if any one has a good but "spare to them" Original in an approx 40 size let me know.
I know sizes were sometimes a bit wacky back them ( what's changed say more than one I am sure -buying jackets in the Repro World !! ) so please bear that in mind if you have one for sale.
I fit 38/40 so maybe a war time 38/40/42 ??? may do the job.

Some great jacket pictures posted (with threads as well).
Love to see these beauty's so many thanks for posting.

Alan as wartime A2s are smaller than most modern sizes I would go for a 42 unless you want a very close fit.

Thanks Andrew. Excellent advice. Now all I have to do is find a good one.

Just for info on your list of goodies I see you have several 42's (Doniger/Poughkeepsie/No Name, etc.)
What are the approx sizes of these. Are they all much of a muchness or as different manufacturers all over the shop.
Also as some of these contracts were in Goat does that affect the sizing (ie) is Horse better or worse in fit.

A Original Jacket Virgin seeking knowledge !!

Alan, There is no simple answer to this questions as within the same contract the measurements differ. Monrach A2s are always at least one wartime smaller than the tagged size so my wartime size 44 fits like a wartime 42. Sometimes originals were mis-tagged. I once onwed a RW 27752 which was tagged as a 44 but was really a 40 and the one I currently own is a true 44. I always ask for accurate measurements when buying any jacket -original or repro. Whether the jacket is made of goat or hh makes little difference to the fit. It's the style of each contract-the manufacturers "house" features which determine the fit of the jacket. The proportions varied enormously as you can see from the Good Wear website.

Just FYI, I purchased a size 46 Monarch (original) from a forum member about a year ago and it was HUGE and not a 44 at all. I ended up selling it back to the person who I bouught it from. The HH was in great shape though.

That size 40 RMNZ Dubow, posted on the other thread, seems to fit you well. It would be worth checking the measurements on any original 40's that come up.

I have size 42 RMNZ Dubows, and originals in this size measure the same.

It would be nice to see some pictures of your originals David.

I have photographed all my original A2s today so you can compare them more easily than searching thorough the links given in the earlier thread.
