A-6 sheepskin boot question pics too

I have had these boots for decades...anyone remember Aviator's World in CA..Movaje Airport???

Anyway they have a buckle on them that I have never seen before on any other A-6 boot////The zip heads were missing when I bought the boots..and being only 19 or so I put the heads on from the bottom er not the top...

anyway the buckles were on the boots and look to be factory installed..a rigger might have done the install but looks to be too good and precise for a AAF repair depot

I've never seen such buckles but I can imagine someone seeing the need to modify them prior the spec change to the A-6A with straps.
