A-4 Flight Suit Question

I have a question for members who have an original A-4 flight suit: does the main zip have an area that is not sewn in the fly area? I bought a repro flight suit that has about a 4 inch area at the fly where the zipper is not sewn. Presumably this is for a man to relief himself since the zipper doesn't have two sliders.

I'm just wondering if this is an original detail or if there is some stitching missing.

Yes, that detail is consistent with the A-4's I have and have handled in the past.

My WPG repro and my original have this feature. never noticed on other originals I have owned but it makes sense.

My original has this too. Initially I thought the stitching had gone in that area but I presume the idea was it's like a quick release mechanism :lol:
