Here's a new one I just finished... the 23rd Bombardment Squadron patch. Photos are before and after shots of the same patch.

The patch is 5-1/2 inches in diameter...

Jim did a great job. I was looking at two artist's work, but since he went and made it and it looks great, I was sold.
Ironically, my Dad became a volcanologist after his service on the B-36. The old airfield in Bicester, England no longer exists though.

The insignia dates to 1936, when the 23rd bombed Mauna Loa during an eruption and diverted lava flow from the city of Hilo. Not your typical mission in wartime or peacetime, it was the brainchild of then-Lt. Col. George S. Patton.
