Is this a good choice for a first (maybe only) A-2?
I like the look of it but don’t care much about historic accuracy. I wonder if I wouldn’t be happier getting an unknown maker 1756 in vincenza.

If historical accuracy isn’t a concern then you should consider one of the up and coming repro makers such as AVI or 5 star leather. You’ll have a fairly nice jacket for about 1/3 of the money as a tier one maker.

The Goldsmith is a recently manufactured A2 jacket which went through a fair amount of research to provide detailed historical accuracy during its development phase. So if historical accuracy isn’t a consideration the Goldsmith might not be for you.

No issues, a customer ordered too small a size (the 40") early enough in production for us to offer him a swap for a 42"
The first sample didn't count in our "25"

This is a size 40" with a couple of inches off the length (it's going to Japan), I think there are more pics If I get any I'll post them later
Wearer is 40" but 5'11" so it's short on him, the only other sizes in the factory right now are 44"s and 46"s

When going through a couple London shops I was surprised to see Buzz Rickson and The Real McCoy’s promoting the SAT 32-485 as the first contract, though the paperwork has been found and repro’s of the earlier Goldsmith 31-1897 have been sold to Japan. Are the web sites just behind (it happens) or something else?

This forum is almost invisible to the jacket buying public and many if not almost all retailers so I doubt they would have heard of any advances in a new “first “ jacket.
And most manufactures will not want to change their long printed version of “history”

Luckily it is so, since this forum here becomes more and more interested in low budget jackets and is not so much interested anymore in high end branded high priced jackets....low budget mostly...

Wouldn't really call it having a low budget focus. I wouldn't have placed an order at Good Wear without the massive amount of "help" I've received from this site.

Just inquire via all possible internet channels ...where is the best possible/ available memorabilia and hence FLIGHT ..VINTAGE ORIGINAL LEATHER jackets of your choice are on sale or offer....???

And this since approx..quite a time...unfortunately...So a lot of ( ex) members do regret..and just vanished from here...
Here and the “chapeau salon” its discussions are... budget,.. low cost..., cheap.., why pay more ???...etc..pls ..see all posts....sure make up your mind.....all ok ...and ...fine.....but it will not help you to locate the finest and best( not here anymore sorry ).....here recently mostly made in..low ...cheap ...budget..etc...ok if ok...
