1931 GOLDSMITH A-2 Limited Edition of 25

We’ve finished the first approved sample, it’ll go live on our website later today but meanwhile here are a few photos. The jacket is made in our Battered Steerhide which feels and drapes exactly how we feel the originals would have done and ages beautifully.

We are going to strictly limit these to 25 to match the original contract. We didn’t expect there to be a large market for these when we decided on the number, maybe we got that wrong as we’ve had several pre booked already, mostly from regular Aero customers who already have a few of our A-2s.

On the other hand 25 is probably enough as we are falling behind on deliveries of our current A-2 range, there seems to be an unusually high demand for the style at the moment. So much so that I’m going to have to spend a few days at Aero next month training up three more of our current machinists on The A-2, that means another batch of “Aero Quartermasters” budget priced A-2 will be up for sale in October

Beautiful jacket, Ken! Great attention to details, interesting to see how different these first A-2s were from wartime ones. Kudos for offering the earliest model on the market, I'm sure it will sell.

Please tell us how we can get in line to order one of these beauties. Also will they be made in larger sizes 46 and 48? If so can you provide measurements for each size? Lastly what do you think the price will be?
Thanks

Hi-Bman2
We are taking orders on the website as of today. A few are presold but the good news is no payment will be requested until the jackets ready to be make, (a couple of months probably) although we never refuse up front payment :>)
Haven't got all the fine sizing info as we've only done the size 40" pattern so far but the pit to pit doubled is 3" over chest, i.e 46" is 24 1/2" but Sam usually double checks with customers fit requirements before she processes an order, especially on a new product

Only the most experienced on this run of course? ;) I've owned quite a few Aero's, both A-2's, and civvie over the years, and have always been impressed with the stitching / construction. I've never had the pleasure of owning one of your USN-type bi-swings though, until my recent previously-owned purchase of an AAF AN-J-3.

As I posted before, EXCELLENT stitching and construction. All panels well-chosen, and the bi-swing / gussets working perfectly. As you pointed out in another thread, attention to detail around the zipper boxes is sometimes lacking due to sewing through the thick layers in that area by other manufacturers, and verified by some I've seen. I must say that the AN-J-3 was expertly done in that area with no pulling or 'distorted' look, especially considering the thickness of the goatskin used. Interestingly grainy, and gorgeous as well.

I'm really looking forward to the Goldsmith... The battered steer looks awesome! :D

EDIT: It really was like solving a mystery watching this jacket come to life over time. Then to see the culmination of the research turn into the jacket seen above.. Just excellent! I also appreciate the significance, and exclusivity of limiting their # to 25. It indeed makes it a special purchase worth digging-deep for IMO..
