I love my Excelled G-1. If I have one complaint, it's the faux mouton collar. It has come to look like the hide of a wild animal after years of wear. The jacket has held up well over the years and I wear it more than the average helo pilot. I wear it flying and a lot of guys don't.
Please enlighten me as to why this could not be placed in the “General Flight Jacket Discussion” forum. I understand that these items are not leather jackets, but neither are topics discussed and pictured in “Related Gear”, “Jacket Art / Patches - Original and Reproduction”, “Cloth” or “Nylon.”...
The pants have suspenders and are separate from the jacket. I have never worn the pants in the aircraft, a few times while shoveling snow in my driveway though. :)

You are correct, however these forums cover more than just vintage leather flight jackets. They will be "vintage" someday and I put them under the "General Flight Jacket Discussion" instead of the "Nylon" or "Cloth" since they are not Nylon and the Gortex really isn't cloth.

Current issued G-1s do not have hand warmer pockets. Yes, pilots modify them to have side entry pockets put in or they buy custom made jackets, like the Blue Angels with their G&B jackets. There are several pilots in my squadron that have taken their issued jackets to a tailor to have the side...
