Looks like a sawn off flight suit of some kind. Very many WW2 German jackets are in fact Dutch coats that have been cut in half.

The jacket is a cut down Colvinex, one-piece, heated flightsuit used by the USN very late in WW2 and into Korea

agree with ftr plt. the little flap job may be an add on.

and there was me thinking it was the holy grail of jackets! Seriously it's yet another butchered Colvinex suit.

Pretty cool actually, a friend of mine picked one up (uncut) a few years back and had a hard time moving it for 400- At least it'll see some use this way.
