What is this?

I was looking closely at EBay Item 180435809362 last night, but couldn't work out what it is. It is a pretty distressed (appeals to me at least) example of an A-2 styled jacket. Initially, with the general pocket flap and collar shape and larger snaps to the collar, I thought that it might be an Aero (with brown rather than berry knits), but I'm not particularly experienced at jacket recognition and of course the label and possibly the hanger are missing (possibly due to a replacement lining). Moreover, the original zipper has possibly been replaced with a later Crown.

The photography isn't great but from the rear shot the multipanelled sleeves are quite clear so perhaps a post war example?

Does anybody have any views on this one please?

Cheers

I would say it's at least 40 to 50 years old, not sure if it's goat skin though. The lining is obviously new as is the odd looking waist knit.

It appears to be a 1940s civilian A2 made of horse hide. It has the three piece sleeves which are seen on many such non-issued A2s. The Crown zip dates from the late '40s and seems to be a replacement.
