I saw that and wondered who else would care. Did you see his other watches? Likely DIY copy paper dials. Also bid up high. I really have to wonder about this. Other much nicer A-11s go for less.
Maybe we need a tutorial for what to look for in an authentic A-11?

He sure has sold a lot of those black-white dial watches, as well as a11s.
That alone makes you wonder.

A tutorial would be a good thing.

This guy has been selling this SH*T for years and has made thousands of $$!!!Very rarely does he have a true A-11 or ORD watch.I complained to the "E" but they didn't give a rip...I've even bought stuff from this guy,,,he used to sell nice bands and hand sets,,stuff like that.Just feel bad for the guys who don't know any better.

Why people don't do their homework before buying things is beyond me. Anyone with a little knowledge wouldn't even look twice at these!

His items are obviously thrown together parts - some poorly replicated. None are A-11 watches. But, really?

1) $307 for an Elgin 554 movement in an "A-11" case (with very questionable engraving) and a mint(DIY) 24 hr dial? Was there ever even a 554 in 24 hr?

2) $282 for the other DIY 24 hr dial may have been for the adjusted 647 movement IF it truly is the 24hr version. It's case is one of those $30-50 "NOS' cases commonly available sans any markings.

3) Then that A-11 first posted with fake engraving on an obviously newer case back. Elgin 775 movement from a 50s rectangular dress watch doesn't match at all(very nice movement but misplaced). "NOS" case is as salty as many well worn cases.

Are these dials not fantasy? Perhaps on larger AC clocks or something but I have yet to see them referred to.

Either shill bidding, buyers wanting repro dials(and can't figure how to do them), they are really 24hr movements, or I'm missing something! These are exactly the parts I've been playing with but few openly peddle such mongrel watches without explanation.

Enough whining from me,
Dave

Unbelievable!!! Are people serious. I own 6 original Navy pilot Hamilton watches and I paid less for every single one of them.

6 when did you get 6??
over the last 2 years. I love Hamilton Navy watches but they can be pricey. THe last one I got came directly from the vet and has a white dial. It also has the rare 2987 movement. It still has its original leather band with Navy pilot wings riveted onto it. I assume the pilot was USMC unfortunately I did not get his name. If you are interested I can post pics
