Vintage L-2B on the 'Bay

Dan:

The Blue Anchor L-2B is a very nice jacket but they tend to run SHORT in the body. I note that the Ebay listing mentions that it's only 24" from top of collar to bottom of waistband, which is a real problem for anyone desiring to wear the jacket over civilian clothes. On many of us it would probably come up to the solar plexus!

If you don't care about wearing it the Blue Anchor 7448A is a very fine jacket, with the desirable Crown zipper (although strangely this example has a Conmar on the sleeve pocket). If you can get it for close to the opening bid it would be a good score for you.

No problem, Dan. I wanted to give you a heads-up so there would be no disappointments. I've owned one of these and sold it soon afterwards due to the length issue. However, I'm sure your mannequin won't complain.

I noticed that one, too, but figured the big guns would take it down in the last few seconds, and, it has a rough cuff, which is just sour grapes, of course I got the Schott repro anyway for a song.

Don't sweat it, Dean. There are far better options for a "wearer" L-2B. However, the cuff replacement is no big deal (as low as $25-30 parts and labor) so don't let that deter you from buying a jacket you're otherwise happy with.

Do you think the decal and sleeve zipper are additions/replacements to ehance value?

Yea I saw the cuff Deano. I am going to go for it, but if the big guys roll in hot, I will bow out.

It is a nice piece if that emblem is original.

Looks good to me. I have the exact same model which for a Blue Anchor runs long in the body compared to the other three I have owned. I have the L-2A both from the same guy a pilot who flew P-51s in WW2, F-86 in Korea (with a MIG kill) and finally as a commander in Vietnam. The L-2B I have was never dry cleaned and is excellent condition (still had the paper inspector tag in the sleeve pocket which would not have been there had it been dry cleaned).
