Very cool story!
I had the opportunity to see that P-51 at the Air Museum in Tucson Arizona. I took some photos of it but that was a while ago. I’ll see if I can find them and post them.

had a short stopover in Tucson Arizona in 1982 during some training/internship at Goodyear Defence ( today/nowadays maybe differently named... and not classified anymore.. ) on some SLAR systems...
