Very early A2 questions.

Howdy... havent been on here in years... danny in seattle.

found (actually re-found) an a2 style jacket that is a conundrum.
doesnt have snaps on collar tips.
and doesnt have metal hook at neck

1. collar does not have snaps under neath each tip.
2. snaps on OUTSIDE of pockets (read on wikipedia that some early A2s had outside snaps)
3. Epaulets correct like other A2s.
4. looks like horsehide.
5. has no hook at neck, like A2s, but instead has a cloth loop and a small button.
6. does have a chest nametag sewn outline where a tag once was.
7. has been relined so no clues there.

8. i have photos but not sure how to post them

wonder if you A2 experts might comment on possibilities of this being an early A2.
chances are its civilian ... but want to be sure. its a long shot, i know

thanks

danny you can email me for photos if you wish dank7ssatgmaildotcom

Danny, Just go to photobucket and set up an account. Click this link -----> http://beta.photobucket.com/

Easy enough after that to upload pics, once you get that done, click on the picture you want and a series of codes will appear on the right side of the page. left click the one beginning with IMG and it will automatically copy. Then right click where you want it in your message here and choose paste. Grab the photo you want and minimize the photobucket page whenever you want to add a pic here. And go back an forth that way with two pages open.

There will be a list of codes to the right of the picture, left click the one starting with IMG and then paste it here by right clicking and paste.

A nice example of a private purchase jacket but definitely not a military jacket.
Not a military jacket, but with the remnants of the military style name tag once being there, it could easily have been worn by a Civilian flight instructor. There were many private flight schools, and this could have been easily worn by someone at one of them.
