There is currently at Rock Island a V505 jacket;

This is quite a nice looking jacket with grainy leather.

It's not American made though.....us Aussies mucked around with it slightly to something we're more similar to making at the time (the company is speculated as being Simpson glove co or Stagg being the only government contracts of leather for government use in Victoria Australia)
These V made jackets are the rarest/smallest run of the war made jackets....hence why it's pretty unknown to most people

Simpson’s Gloves Pty. Ltd., Melbourne supplied 3,132 flying jackets to the U.S.A. Air Corps for the V505 order.

After forum member dinomartino1 found a lead I hired a researcher in Australia to go through the Archives and track down the paperwork. See

A complete A-2 contract list, including the first three contacts uncovered when I got the A-2 specification 94-3040 declassified, is at

EDIT: And the rarest war made A-2 jacket was order 42-1671-P by Rough Wear as Mr Eastman estimated around 300 produced based upon the contact value in the paperwork he found (page 209 in his excellent book). One (1) original has been located and Good Wear has made a replica. See
