Well to do buyer greedily snaps up jacket that he has no interest in owning but smells a profit thus denying less well to do buyer a genuine bargain that he will keep and enjoy. Such is the nature of capitalism. Sad.

Not sad, but sensible, Peter. If I hadn't hit the button on this jacket someone else would have done so. Any profit made on it will be invested in another jacket to add to my collection.

I rest my case,

There's no argument here Peter. Collectors do this frequently as a way of helping to fund the next serious addition to their collections.

Thing is, it was posted here for our collective attention, no-one who might have wanted it for their collection as a wearer got a look in at that bargain price. I would have liked a crack at it, its my size and is the type of jacket I am looking to source. we have discussed the resale by PM and I get the feeling it is game off for me.
I may not be as vocal as Peter but there is a point there to reflect on.

Maybe, but that doesn't stop it feeling a little mercenary. 'And 'serious' is surely a relative term.

I would say very mercenary, Rich. :) Not that anyone here of course has every bought a bargain jacket and re-sold it at a profit to help fund another purchase! ;)

Bottom line is that there ain't no friends in the collecting world (regardless of the type of 'collectable').

Everybody's peachy and buddy buddy until they have a common interest and competition and then you get to see who your real friends are.

I have always tried to move stuff on here at a friendly price, even at a slight loss to 'share the love' cos thats what its about to me.
There are some bargains here I have snapped up.. I have also paid over the odds for some nails. whateverf I have bought I have always wanted.
Hate to say it but Senicko used to do this kind of thing.

I think what is rankling people is that you dont even want it. It smacks of 'stuff you lot..'
Sorry if I am mistaken in that belief, I truly am. and yes, to lend balance your finger was first on the button so alls fair in that respect. Now I know thems the rules it alters things.

I really don't understand all the complaints here. If Andrew hadn't bought the jacket, someone else would have - maybe a forum member, maybe someone else...chances are, the latter - and there's no knowing whether that person would have kept the jacket or sold it on. I personally wouldn't have bought the jacket because 1) it would be way too big for me, and 2) even it hadn't been, while certainly a good buy, it wasn't such a giveaway to guarantee an easy profit, especially with the economy the way it is. But if it had been, say 50 quid, who on here would not have bought it to make a few quid?
