U.S.N G-1 MIL-J-7823 ( AER ) CALIFORNIA SPORTS WEAR

G-1s by this maker are quite rare. This was their only contract for G-1s and dates to 1960. With a replacement zip it would make someone a nice wearable jacket.

I think so, they don't come up too often, and normally on in a smaller size and in much worse shape. and a replacement Conmar zipper is easy enough to find comparatively cheaply.

by the measurements looks small for a 42

The shoulder and pit measurements do seem small for a 42, but it is not unusual for sellers to make mistakes with measurements.

I did. I will wear it on occasion, after I replace the zipper of course. Mash has one that is close, but not identical. I also have a Werber 44 but that is too big for me to wear.

As for the measurement I'm hoping the seller measured the shoulders from the bi swing pleat seam and not the actual shoulders.

I also made an offer at $200 but took it back because I was afraid it was gonna be too small. Maybe mistagged.
If you ever get bored of it let me know.

Will do. Sent an email to RMNZ, will see what they say.

Hi All,

The 7823 (AER) model G-1 jackets are my most favorite G-1 jackets. Currently & as seen here viewtopic.php?f=15&t=7180, and here viewtopic.php?f=5&t=11712 I have two California Sportswear jackets in my collection.

If there is an easily obtainable & same replacement zipper then it would be found here http://www.mash-japan.co.jp/oversea/cgi ... 3-5020&ck= . However, please notice the length of that Mash replacement zipper. The problem being, California Sportswear jackets have a fairly long body & that MASH replacement zipper is slightly short.

In the past four years I have only witnessed one worthy same aluminum toothed Conmar replacement zipper come available.

Cheers, Dave

Something I did recently on an old W&GEIGER AN-6552 was buy a zipper of the same sized teeth. Blackened, to match the Talon fitted. The right hand slider side was fine, but make left side missing teeth, all I did was carefully remove the very long talon male input, remove the modern one, and a few teeth and crimp the old Talon I put in its place. I then removed the zipper stop and replaced it with the 'C' shaped Talon one. The zipper tape isn't perfect, but as a wearer fine.

All that said the conmar male input should be of normal 'modern'size, maybe just a brown tape 50's talon would seffice?
