This is interesting-civilian G-1

I just spotted another one of those a day or two ago while looking up my Avirex. The wings were still there, Navy, and the white labels were removed but the black one remained.

I lived in SF in the mid and late 70's and bought a few pieces of clothing at Rober Kirk. It was a very old-school place...think J. Press for you east-coasters with just a touch more Brit influence. My guess on that jacket..based on the little 'wings" patch sewn inside..is that it was a private-label piece made by the same shop, (U.S. Wings??) that made some of the late-stage Willis and Geiger stuff, (their G-1 at one point had the same little wings patch inside) right before/right after Burt Avedon sold the brand. Just a WAG.

My guess, based on briefly owning one of the W/G incarnations of this jacket is that; a) You'll find "civilian handwarmer pockets" behind the patch pockets, and b) The hide will be very light monkeyshit brown, (Thanks to Tom Waits for that!) and very thin. The knits will be rockin' good quality, tho, as will the collar...and the lining will be that same silky stuff W/G used.

It's the same one I posted on 30th Dec - page 2 here, Andrew commented on its handwarmer pockets. The seller clearly didn't get his price so re-listed.
