73°F here locally, high of 47°F tomorrow (at midnight, then dropping like a rock). Donned the old ELC RW 1401 for, probably, the last time this year.

As I reached into a pocket, I came up with the idea for a thread -- does anyone else carry any "good luck" items in their jackets? I know folks have bells and bomb tags on outside hardware, but I started carrying a few things many years ago. Such as:

No telling how old that Beemans is, but the chestnut is from the Hofbräuhaus Biergarten in Munich from one of my first trips back in the 90s (I think I have a chestnut in the pocket of all my A-2s from various Biergarten). And yeah, the 1401 was with me on that trip -- gained some character balled up in my backpack on warm days hiking in the Alps.

Having 3 dogs and a 74 kilo house pony, usually poo bags no kidding, dug out a jacket I haven't worn since last winter and you've guessed it, there was a poo bag in the pocket haha seriously though, I carry my Zippo lighter, and a thin pencil torch as we live near woods and a natural park, here's my Zippo,

Bit sentimental and it's faded beyond being able to be read but I would never throw it away, I still have the parking ticket from the hospital parking building that I got when I was going in to see my son born.

My 1903 Mauser (passed down from my grandfather) fits the pocket, too -- but you need to be a dead eye to be effective.

Then again, it IS loud!
