Gents...

Sold my ELC Hartmann 44 in early 2009. Replaced it with a 42 a couple of years ago which I sold a few months back. Found this one yesterday and started bidding in earnest. Listed my N-1 to make some quick dollars and it sold overnight. Then my L-2 sold today. Was keen to get my 'bid' on. Then the seller pulls it with live bids? Nothing peeves me more. I loathe the type of individual who, through fear of having to actually bid and win, undermines the process. Almost as much as the seller who finalises the dodgy deal. I have no hassles whatsoever with anyone pulling something without a bid or a pending offer to save on the eBay/Paypal extortion.

Just shot the seller this:

"Hi,

I was the under bidder on the Eastman Hartmann jacket you just pulled. I had listed an additional jacket after placing my initial bids on your items. I priced the items to sell and one sold immediately and another sold today after I dropped the price again. I now have two jackets I sold cheaply to fund bids on your item. I only recently sold my 42 that had become a bit too snug in the shoulders. I am not too keen to proceed with my sales now. I was wondering if you could contact my high bidders and explain that since you pulled the listing I will not be proceeding with my sales? I can furnish the user IDs and the relevant item numbers. It is VERY frustrating when sellers sell offline when there are active bids. My son was ill today and if not for that I would have put on additional bids tonight. I would have thought the tempo of the auction would have tempted you to keep the auction online. I can assure you that those who make an offer are only attempting to do YOU out of money."

Karma baby. Thinking of doing up a mock ad with a 44 with a $1.00 start bid to rattle with the mindset of the dirty lowballer....

Vent over...

Happens quite a bit. Take heart in the fact that there's always another jacket out there. Seller's end early in order to avoid paying fees. Something better will come along

i have done business with this seller, and have to say he has always been aok. i have learned to give militaria collectors from mexico some slack regarding their ebay selling. you see, many people will not bid on on items coming from mexico. a cultural prejudice of some sort, i reckon. so these folks from mexico list gear that they purchased at market value, and only get low ball bids, if any. they get screwed, glued and tattooed. my guess is that the seller was offered a bin that he figured was far better then waiting for the aucions end, and ending up with a small bag of peanuts for the jacket that he paid $$$ for. dont get your panties twisted in a knot over it, and as been said, there are plenty more jacs out there. btw: we have all been skunked with an item being delisted. win some, lose some.

But to go through the trouble of selling stuff off to have additional funds for bidding, then the turd pulls it is just bad business. If there was no justification not to bid up an item from Mexico, there is now! Also no reason to give a seller slack to screw with an auction, unless of course they are from Mexico

I too have done business with the seller. He has lost significant amounts of money on selling jackets over recent months for the reason Vic points out. I can understand why he sold outside Ebay although I don't condone what he has done. Couchy, I hope you can get your hands on another Hartman asap.

If I were him I would just change the item location to North America.

this can happen with sellers from any/all countries. One take one's chances with sleazebay.

Bizarre? The response I received was that the seller was concerned about the final price and not getting his outlay back. From a start of $0.99 the bidding had it $300 within a day. With the remainder of the week to run? Price is great! Just off the seller... :( Someone will snaffle it. I would only push it to my last bid as a matter of principle, and then let destiny set the price...

You now have 180 days from the payment date to lodge a dispute and then a subsequent claim. Get it in now and get the seller moving. SHOULD be a paper trail. Otherwise you get the purchase price and shipping back. Tactic on a low priced sale would be to just refund and relist. Keep an eye on the listings... Good luck. You will get your money from eBay, Paypal or the vendor. Just do one claim. Whoever you hit second will state you have an active claim. Go Paypal in my opinion.

Couchy
