Like probably most on here I aware of ELC Monarch with the interior pockets, but I didn't know about this repro from The Few:

I like the Monarch, The Few didn't offer one this year, but it's nothing new for them.

Although they will have made new patterns for The Few range, the Monarch A-2 is one of the Real McCoy's jackets.

Didn't know that; I've never seen a RM with the interior pocket.

So thats what that stich line is. Is this something that pilots would modify their jackets with?

Even though ELC copied an original, I prefer the single, slightly smaller, squarer pocket of the Few's jacket. And it looks better on the seal than on the russet.

The AVG, and others in the CBI, would sew their blood chit into the inside of their FJs and often create a pocket in the process -- probably even bigger than the ELC 352d FG version.

That's a hell of a good looking Monarch, historically acurate or not I have to say I prefer it over the ELC. The collar tips look more rounded and the collar itself longer(although maybe thats the angle).

Do these pop up for sale used at all, as I can't recall ever noticing one. I would quite happily have that sitting in my rather bursting at the seams wardrobe.

RMNZ offers the Monarch pattern as well. I briefly owned one in seal goat, but it was too short for me.

RMNZ probably doesn't offer the inside pocket additions, but it's a nice pattern and cheaper than the Few's version.

Curiously the seller claims this is made from 3 different hides: horse (body), goat (sleeves), buffalo (collar, pockets, ep's). It was an exclusive for one shop in Japan.

Ahhhh,

A small run of Monarch A-2's using a mix of skins such as this was done for a shop called Standard Work Wear, in Kumamoto, around '05/'06

The pictures showing details of the jackets have been removed from the Standard site I think.

Yes, that's the shop. I don't really see the appeal of mixing hides.

They were not bigger, here's mine as a pocket (Handwoven silk 48 Star Flag) sewed it on myself, the
bloodchits were about the same size and would be on the left side making 2 not very usefull and fragile pockets.

and btw that is an ELC Monarch.

That's not an AVG chit. This is the AVG chit, note the dimensions: http://www.flightsuits.com/patch_chit_silk.html

(that's also not an AVG patch on your jacket, but a 23rd Fighter Group emblem -- came after the AVG)

Somewhere there's a picture of Chennault showing his (as a pocket) to another flyer -- you can see the size pretty well.

Your absolutely right Chandler, should have read your post better sorry for that. But with this jacket I went
for the 23 FG group theme with leather chit on the back and silk 48 flag as inner pocket.
