Tagless (Dubow 1755?) on eBay...

I can't believe no one has bought this yet. That's a very fair price, and the seller accepts offers. At size 38 I would think there would be interest from Japanese buyers.

I agree. The jacket is in great shape.

Some locations make me hesitate too. Buyer Protection gives me some confidence though. I have sometimes hesitated with far away locations because I could get the same item elsewhere and receive it quicker. This seller has excellent feedback except for one negative which sounds nit-picky. If that's the seller's pic on the profile she's cute too. ;)

I agree the size decreases the amount of potential buyers, but the condition is excellent. Larger sizes in the same condition go for much more than $1000.00.

Even without the tag? Seems odd it's missing due to the condition of the jacket overall?
What is a good price as it sits today?

I can only go by what I see originals end up at on ebay auctions. I own some nice vintage '40s civilian jackets, but original A-2s are out of my range at this point. A couple of years ago the corporation I worked for closed many of their locations, and I haven't found a full-time job since in this job-depressed area. I'm looking into relocating right now.

I'm very sorry to hear that. I hope something comes up for you soon.

So, what is your estimate on the value as it stands?

I could guess it going for as much as $1500 for the buyer who wants it bad enough. Many would not hesitate at paying that much for a repro from a respected company.

I too think that's too much under the circumstances. It has a good hide for sure but a missing tag is a big detraction even though we all know what it is - it's just an originality thing. I also agree about the location which is why I suspect it is still there.
Let's not help the prices go up during this recession please!

I was close, but changed my mind. My wife was going to fund it as a gift for our son for Xmas. But, I decided against it due to location and taglessness. Maybe my loss, but I'm not cash rich this year so someone else may get the winning ticket. Or not.

A missing label definitely decreases the value. Is it possible this one is an excellent repro, or an original that was re-lined and the label was never replaced? I don't know enough about all the exacting details to know if this appears 100% authentic. Hopefully Andrew will comment.

I suspect certain collectors would pay that kind of money for a rare contract ( which for all I know it might be), but I've seen heaps of smaller sized A-2's sell for a third of that over the years.

I could be well off as ive not been following prices but my personal price impressions for jackets without special significance, art or patches are roughly;
- 38-40 approx $300- 600 ( plentiful wartime size, common present day size)
- 40-42 approx $400-800 ( plentiful wartime size, plentiful present day size)
- 42-44 approx $600- 1100 (as above)
- 44-46 approx $900- 1400 ( rarer wartime sizes, common present day size).
- 46-48 approx $1100-2000+ (rarer sizes as its an uncommon wartime size but common present day size)
-50 + I think the price plateaus as the number of buyers drops off.

Add patches plus and artwork plus plus, then a combination of these, rare or special units or Fighter Squadrons plus plus plus....

This is really rough and without reference to any jacket but the second it's missing something or has a replacement thing it's immediately to the bottom of the price range for me.

Well, I may have made a mistake in making an offer - I was given a $650 counter-offer. Maybe I shoulda took it...
