Surely a real Luftwaffe jacket at last ?

From what I can see of the stamp, it appears to start with LBA -- which is Luftwaffe Bekleidungs Amt (Luftwaffe Clothing Office). This is correct for issue items, etc. Unfortunately, I'm not aware of any issue leather jacket in this style. I'm sure a cross reference of the full number would show what it was assigned to.

Also note that the images of the jacket leave many areas blocked/not shown. I'd want to see the interior, signs of removed labels, etc.

Note the dark area under the eagle (or darkened by adding dye, or using Pecards to bring the color back, etc) while there are no dark areas beneath the shoulder boards. Also note the largely destroyed eagle and reasonably pristine boards.

Notice how far outboard of the shoulder the boards project -- to me indicating something much shorter was once there or the board buttons were added to an area where something was removed (buttons in place of snaps, for example).

Just going by the photos, this has so many red flags that I'd walk away.

As to the Hartmann jacket, again I have many concerns. First and foremeost would be the seller's admission that he removed the breast eagle. If this was truly an original jacket with its eagle intact, the seller just removed about $1000 worth of value from the jacket.

these
'luftwaffe" jackets are almost impossible to verify, as none of them were official issues. most were made in france, and austria as private consignments. the vast majority for sale were late 1940s-50s motorcycle jackets that now have shoulder boards, eagles, etc. i would not even consider one unless it came with specific provenance, ie: vets family, documentation, pix of the flyer in said jac, etc. about the one from italy, besides the observations made by members, i am feel that the "wear, fading, patina" is just to consistent through out all of the surfaces. not to mention no pix of the liner, and monkeyed with eagle. then again, how many of us would want to goose step around town in a short leather jacket, with an eagle clasping a swastika patch on it? not me, not in nyc.
