For those living in NYC, the Oakland based shop, Standard and Strange recently opened a New York City outpost on Mulberry St. They carry Japanese denim, a large selection of Real McCoy's military/civilian jackets and some Eastman Leather jackets. It's kinda cool to walk in and try stuff on!

Agree re customer service! I picked up a pair of Ooe denim, reproductions of ‘44 S501xx wartime denim. The attention to detail is insane!

Considering the "Yeager era" stretched over, what? 6 or 7 decades, can you be so sure?

I know I had to have a pair after I read about his opinion of them in one of his books (not sure if it was "Yeager" or "Press On," but it was the story about trout fishing in the Sierras).

That said, after I wore thru them I'm not so sure I shared his opinion of their being better than most high-end hiking boots.
