Spaatz, Arnold, Westover & Douglas B-7

Finally found the photo of Spaatz standing in front of the Fokker C-2A and sedan with the Question Mark A-1. I'd love to have an A-1 like this, but I can only imagine how many times I'd have to explain the significance of the question mark.

Not sure if this one was posted before of Westover and Arnold. Of note is the name tape on Westover's SAT. Looks like it was applied in a hurry.

Finally, a rather rare photo of the Douglas B-7 in use with the mail service. Most of these crashed while serving in this capacity.

They are. The history of the world we live in begins in 1939...or '41, or '45, or '48...

BTW, Spaatz's(?) car is a '28 Franklin, or as they were always called, "Air-Cooled Franklin."
That big bullseye on the grille is the intake. The grille itself is a dummy.
Franklin was air-minded in more ways than one - they once tested their engine in a Waco plane and Lindy himself used to advertise them.

The Westover-Arnold pic is a crop and blowup of this one of the GHQ AF Provisional staff in 1933. Weasel, perhaps keep an eye peeled for a large version of the whole somewhere.

Wonderful pictures once again! The B-7 looks amazing. Zoomer, thanks for that link to the group photo. I see my favorite pilot off on the left. :D

Thanks for the info on the Franklin. Never knew about that.

I knew I'd seen that photo of Westover and Arnold. Now I remember. Thanks. I'd really like to see a detailed photo of those name tapes they used back then. Font, color, etc.
