No attempt to camouflage some of those aircraft. I’m wondering if that was done towards the end of the war when the threat of being attacked by the Luftwaffe had diminished.I’m talking about the orange and red painted aircraft .
Wasn't that a "rally plane?" Sent up first for the rest of the squadron to rally around, then the plane would get them on the right track and return home.LOL !

There was another with more varied sized dots in reds and oranges (IIRC), I think I remember it from a story in Scale Modeler or Military Modeler back in the 70s.
