"Due to previous problems I do not ship items to Africa,Greece,India,Italy South America or South East Asia."
I always feel offended when I read statement like that :( Our postal service is very good (I sent and received dozens and dozens of parcels w/o a problem) and up to the European standards. Also, you can find cheating and pain-in-the-neck customers all over the world... How can we Italians fight these prejudices?

It happens all over the globe Carlo, you're right - we've lost material in the post in the UK recently...

I think the issue with Italy is over the importing of leather goods; it's been discussed on here before, but I'm still not sure whether it's officially okay or not.

I can assure that being Italy part of the European Community, follows the same CEE's rules not having any restriction in importing leather goods. In any case being the seller from the UK, not custom issues of any sort.

There must be a reason thousands of Ebay vendors ban shipping to Italy ?
For example this seller of low cost electrical items:
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/2x-18650-3000mAh- ... 0784839037

A while back I remember reading through the UPS terms and conditions and leather imports to Italy were prohibited even though this is a breech of EU laws. Italy has a big leather industry of course and they where, or still are, trying to stop cheap imports.

That's unfair.

Ignorance is when someone doesn't know the facts. If he has bad experiences under his belt he has EVERY RIGHT to refuse to sell to Italy or wherever he wants!

I don't refuse to sell to France or Malaysia particularly (despite missing items to both) but for expensive items I only accept UK bidders because things can and do go wrong. To send a 2KG £500 flight jacket abroad with the security level that is a prerequisite for defence against bogus non-receipt claims costs £59.00. If you list it at £59 everyone complains so I just don't.

Ebay sellers have the right to take precautions against fraudulent claims and if this chap has had problems sending to Italy then that's NOT ignorance, it's EXPERIENCE!

Yesterday for example I bought an item in England and in less than 24 hours and with insurance I had in hand the 'object and also expensive, they are more' stupid or clever than others? these are just excuses and prejudices, how many users there are Malaysian or Nigerian in the Forums?in this forum?

as a whole TOTO' says: but do me the pleasure..

then in ebay there are more 'fraudsters sellers (and buyers cheated) than the reverse.I remember you. And you do not leave feedback until you have received one, should leave it at that already have money in hand.

:?
I don't follow.
I'm going to finish this conversation here because I don't know what on earth is going on. Are you accusing me of something? I honestly don't know, I can't figure it out. :?
What I do know is that nobody can accuse someone of ignorance or prejudice because their bad ebay experiences have put them off sending items abroad.

They are right to complain. As I already posted, you can use brokers like Interparcel and select UPS or Fedex as a carrier for far less money than that. 2kg to Italy with £500 cover is £29.85 + vat for example.

just checked and you don't get a scanned proof of delivery which Ebay/Paypal insist upon in the case of a dispute

Also they don't have to bid. They don't have any right to complain but do have the right not to bid ;)
It's a lot easier to not ship abroad for expensive items. I have a job, I have things to do that don't necessarily mean I can get 25 different parcel quotes from Interparcel

no no do not worry, I do not know what you sell, maybe there are cases where someone has problems, but a problem when I do not think you can say to never send in Italy by comparing it to nigeria somalia Libya or Afghanistan, there are good reasons and opportunities 'for the Italians to buy all' foreign. anyway sorry if we do not understand but I use google translator
