first time i saw them was on a MA-1 nylon flight jacket, don't know how old that one was, these have them:

They're seen on numerous US-issued jackets produced under mid-'70s contracts for sure, and possibly later but I'd have to check my stock.

I believe Serval zippers were used for the knife pockets on M-42 jump jackets during WW2.

We have a private purchase flight jacket at our museum and the zipper is a SERVAL i was believing it has been changed post war and it was a french brand.

Peter, I just did a quick sweep of Google and you're correct. However, I'm not sure if Serval zips showed up again until the '70s. Strange . . .

my M65 on ebay right now has them. It's from 76.
