Sears, Montgomery Ward jackets

Evening Everyone,

Monday is in the books, already looking at Tuesday now. Does anyone have any experience with Sears or Montgomery Ward Moto jackets? All of a sudden I'm keenly aware that I'm seeing them all over the place but I don't know anything about the quality of the leather, stitching, etc.

Growing up in South Texas in the 1970s we had Kmart, Monkey Ward, and Sears within two miles of each other and I cannot tell you how many Saturdays I spent at one, two, or all three of them - my mother wouldn't spring for Levis, so we'd go and get Tough Skins, which from what I recall were almost indestructible. Wild times, and of course not a seatbelt, sunscreen, or helmet to be found, ever.

Anyway, I like the design of some of the Sears Cafe Racer jackets but before I pick one up I just wanted the wisdom of the forum on quality. If anyone has any thoughts or photos that would be terrific, thank you. And if anyone here is old enough to remember the Sears catalog, cheers. Speak soon.

Terry Mitchell on FL has a great collection of them.

I myself just have this horsehide half belt I picked up a couple of months ago made sometime in the 50's judging by the "boxy body" and steel fittings.
It's a tad too small for me nowadays and has that odd aroma of tobacco smoke.....but I've kept it around "just in case" I ever got into it and can stand the smoke lol

I've also never seen the simplistic pattern that's over the front shoulder part in any of the catalogues I've been able to find online (and Terry Mitchell was curious about it since he didn't find any jackets with the pattern in his collection)
It's another reason why I've kept it around.....so I might one day fit back into it or send it to 5* to see if they could make a reproduction of it in a larger size across the shoulders and around the biceps
