RW A2 claimed to have belonged to Henry Tift Myers

I know after Pearl Harbor Myers was ordered back into the Army Air Corps as aide to General Harold S. George of Air Transport Command, (hence the ATC patch) but did this jacket really belong to him? The rather crude painted name appears to be done over other lettering on the name strip. Could this be a later addition to inflate the price of the jacket?

Andrew,
I think the name is stitched onto the name strip. I know the original owner of the jacket. Mr. Lipps at Wartime Collectables is very straight up, and purchases almost everything he sells directly from the families. I would guess that is where he got this one.
The current owner of this jacket had it for sale on a site earlier this year for roughly $6,000. Hopefully he has adjusted his price. I see he has a reserve!
