The Bronco is a beauty. I'm skeptical about the measurements. Every Bronco I have ever had is extremely tim fitting. For a 42, these measurements are pretty large, especially for a Bronco. As we know, meaurements on originals can be all over the map, so who knows.
Jeff, I agree with you about the measurements of originals being all over the place. I have a size 42 from Bronco's sister company United Sheeplined and the measurements of my jacket are very similar to this size 42 Bronco. My jacket fits like a 44. I guess bidding will be strong on the Bronco as good examples like this one are rare. For some reason Broncos seem to command higher prices than similar jackets from other makers.
Jeff, this is true. I have not been able to find a decent sized 44 Bronco at a fair price. One day perhaps I will? I also wonder whether the name Bronco adds to the appeal of the jacket.
Speaking for myself, the Bronco pattern is awesome -- easily my favorite A-2. There is just something about the pointed collar, trim body, and bevelled pockets that nails the look. I also dig the OD thread and lack of collar stand. Also, don't overlook the cool name factor; the only rival for Bronco in that department is Rough Wear. Add in the use of original Crown zips (the consensus coolest WWII era zip, no?) and the Bronco is just about perfect (for me, anyway). If I didn't already have one from GW my pending order with John would certainly be a Bronco. As it is, I love it so much I think I've changed my mind for my next GW from a Dubow to a United Sheeplined -- Bronco's close cousin. Decisions, decisions....
And the high bidder (and only bidder) has a sensational tactic of throwing one bid on after another. Either a buyer
happy to pay a very high price or a shill bid itching to get attacked. 10 years of playing eBay with 1400 transactions
and these 'bunnies' are few and far between. I would say 5 bids under $700. Moron..
I struggled to get $400 for the same jacket minus the decal.
