Air Associates were making A2s in the War and I would date this goatskin jacket to the War. It has a M42 Talon zip so it most likely dates from 1942-3.In Full Gear there are pictures of the same label on Wartime flight gear. Air Associates was selling privately purchased A2s and other flying jackets from 1934 onwards.

Did they have a government contract,or just the civilian market?

They did not have a government contract for A2s, but filled a gap in the market for A2s once they were no longer issued.
