They usually come up on ebay 3-5 times a year and fetch $200-$300. I've got a nice sz42 that I picked up on ebay last year for $215. They are rare, but not as rare as many think. Since this is smaller I would say it's not worth much more than $225. Thats just my opinion on these. I have had them on my watch list for years after a buddy of mine found one at a thrift shop for $20!

I would say you are now the unofficial subject matter expert. Unless someone in Japan goes crazy you could be right.

What about that RRL or Ralph Loren version that came out a year or two ago? I think that was a reasonable faxcimile. Doesn't Clarkie have one?

Cheers

I concur with the above....I have found a couple over the years, but most of my bargains were $35 to $50.....and a few were closer to $200.

These run small, and I would not trust the labeled size to be close to anything normal. Also, I am not sure it is age related or just how some were made, but the wool on some is down right hard and tight....letterman sweaters from this era can be this way too. The moths also like to munch on these, so finding something without holes is tough.

I think you could find a decent example as a collectable, but to wear, I would get a repro.

good for the seller. That's a high end price. The condition of this one was definitely extremely nice and more than likely why this one got so much interest.
