Painted/Aged Good Wear Aero Size 42+on the Bay

Gents - I have placed this jacket on eBay. Not sure it will sell. Don't want to say too much about it as its all in the listing. Pretty pumped up praise for it but IMHO it the most convincing aged A-2 repro I have seen. I guess this proves to never say never as I NEVER thought I would put it up for sale but we just finished "winter" here - 3 mild months - and I am yet again reminded I can survive with fewer jackets. I will let this one run its course on eBay. The jacket did shrink. from its original 44-46 size Its snug on me and I am a 44R so it you are a 42 or slim 44, it should work. If it doesn't sell, I will still enjoy the heck out of it. works well for me with a t-shirt of lightweight shirt. If you don't care for people stoping you and asking about your jacket, don't buy this one! Its almost been annoying. John Chapman does exceptional work. Just FYI:

I'd bet money this is flipped as original pretty soon. Nice job!
Seriously, we are gonna have to play police on this one later.

Good luck!

That is one gorgeous GORGEOUS jacket. Wish I could bid right now.. because I'd love to. "Timeworn" or whatever they call it now has NOTHING on what you do to a John Chapman jacket. Best of luck, someone's going to be very lucky indeed.

there is a back photo on the listing

thanks guys - yes, its really cool looking. Another issue is I think I have the "method(s)" down now so if I want to do something later I can.

Someone would have to change the spec label and the name strip to fool most guys though.

Very nice jacket BTW, it should do well.

Yup, and the repro zip is a tipoff, too. But overall it is one amazing jacket. Phenomenal job on the painting and aging, it looks great.

May I ask you why your listing is not available for Italian customers?
I traded, buyed and sold several jackets through these years with many people from the US included J.C. with no problems at all, ever.

I agree, that this jacket is an amazing masterpiece!

Would it be too much to ask to briefly tell us what you did to bring out the grain? Did you do much more than the hot water treatment you have previously described on the forum? And, if you could do it again, are there any modifications to the process you might make that would get similar results, while controlling/limiting the shrinkage?

Thanks!

Zipper and tag aside, there have been many jackets with "less accurate" parts that have been sold for big bucks. Call them replacements or that the buyer is uninformed, but I think this is something they might fall all over.

Just FYI (no one is saying this so no worries) but my intention is not to ever sell pass/off any of these as original. In regards details as to how I did it besides what I have written before. I did do quite a bit of tweaking. It would take some time to explain it all. I will do it at some point.
