ORIGINAL WWII PERRY SPORTSWEAR INC. 23377 TYPE A-2

Some jackets really defy the passage of time, and this A-2 is proof of it. This example is 1 of 20,000 made by to Perry Sportswear Inc. under the contract 23377, from December 1941.
This would be the first out of 3 contracts awarded to Perry for the production of the A-2.

The condition of this jacket is unbelievable, considering it is over 80 years old. All the parts are original to the jacket.

The 23377 was mainly produced with russet goatskin, although there are examples found in horsehide as well. The goatskin in this example is superb. The liner is immaculate and has some numbers stamped by the tag area, but no info has been found yet. This jacket comes with a Crown zipper which is rare for this contract. Knits are solid. Note under the right epaulette there is a paper tag from production still attached.

I have some Perrys in my collection, but this is by far the best preserved example, and most likely will be impossible to upgrade.
