Got this babe a while ago, exceptional L.S.L GARMENT B-10.

The original owner was a flight engineer on the B-24 “Cocktail Hour” 64th BS in the famed 43rd BG, an unit that was known as “Ken’s Men” serving in the Pacific Theater during WWII.

The jacket is in amazing condition, knits are genuine and original CONMAR zipper working perfectly, mouton fur collar and lining are intact.
On the front has large painted insignia for both the 5th Air Force and the first style patch of the 64th Bombardment Squadron. On the upper left breast is a leather name tag, impressed “Russ Burnett”. The back of the jacket has a multi-color image of a B-24 Liberator which carries the number “428” on its tail, while the nose of the plane has the Indian insignia, as well as the names “Jane” and “Cheryl”, the name of the pilot’s wife and daughter respectively. The talented artist who painted this even created a shadowing on the plane with two colors of paint!

Here are some pics to entertain your Wednesday... wish you a good one!

Very very cool B-10 and thanks for the detailed photos! Not to geek out, but according to Aota's book, this is the second of two contracts that L.S.L Garment Co had for the B-10 and A-9 trousers. Most of this contract had the off white mouton collar, so it's cool to see they also produced them with the usual brown mouton. Again thanks for showing an awesome original B-10.

"Ken's Men" memorialized Brig. Gen. Ken Walker, who was lost leading his bombers against Japanese ships in Rabaul harbor, New Guinea, in January, 1943. Gen. MacArthur had ordered his air generals not to fly any more missions, an order Walker routinely flouted. He posthumously received the Medal of Honor for this mission.

I would like to share the other part of this grouping; Burnett’s original Type B-4 flight bag. It is in amazing condition and has the same 5th Air force insignia and first style squadron insignia painted on the top of the bag as appear on the front of the jacket. On one side of the bag shows the painted designation “KEN’S MEN 43Rd BOMB GROUP(H)” while the other side has stenciled Burnett’s name and service number.

It’s amazing to witness how these pieces have survived over 75 years together.
