Not very often you get to see an example of N-3 Heavy Aircrew Jacket. This is earliest and rarest version of the N-3 series, one of a series of nylon flight jackets adopted after WWII. This specific example was made by Reed Products, Inc. under contract AF 33(038)-12107 in fiscal year, 1950.
Initially, it was worn only by aircrews, but later it was used for flying purposes.
The construction is made of Olive Green nylon, featuring a shearling-lined hood trimmed in coyote fur that cannot be removed or divided. It also includes a leather tab for the oxygen mask.
The front pockets are through pockets added to provide access to the pocket of the flight suit without opening the main zipper of the jacket.
The cuffs have knit cufflets, similar to other flight jackets.
This example is in amazing condition, considering it is over 70 years old. All parts are original to the jacket and fully functional.
Say no more gents, enjoy it!
Regards,
Jorge
