ORIGINAL KINGS POINT MFG. CO. NASA FLIGHT SET FROM APOLLO ERA

It is not a mystery that NASA uniforms are among the rarest ever issued, as they came from extremely small contracts and were only worn by astronauts and test pilots during the late 60's and early 70's.

Made by the prominent Kings Point Mfg. Co, this mustard yellow version is probably the less known of them. By comparison, this makes the extremely rare blue version appear rather "common".

This example belonged to Byron Batthauer. He had a dual career path as USN pilot and engineer with McDonnell-Douglas and NASA.

Batthauer became a Commander and then Captain in the USNR, operating and maintaining aircraft in support of Worldwide Fleet Activities and Special Projects.

In civilian life as a test pilot at NASA's Lewis Research Center, he worked on numerous projects in the advancement of flight test techniques, aeronautical development and pilot safety.

This set is in good condition considering it is over 50 years old and definitely has seen real action.

On a side note, I was lucky to find pictures of him wearing it.

If only it could talk.....
Enjoy it!

Regards,
Jorge

I still kick myself for not buying one of these original gold jackets back in the early 90s...
I like them, Luna replicas are making remakes now
