Gents,
Today I wanted to share another interesting example: this flight jacket was worn by the highly seasoned Test Pilot, Jim Sandberg, during the tests of the F-5E Tiger II.
Jim joined Northrop in 1982, he flew production acceptance on the F-5E/F. Being an operational and engineering test pilot in the Marine Corps and with Northrop Grumman for 22 years through 1999, with over 6000 hours in more than 40 types, mostly tactical jets.
This example was made by Flight Suits Ltd which is now known as Gibson & Barnes.
The condition of this jacket is excellent, which is amazing considering it's over 30 years old.
The material is 100% Nomex.
Left chest depicts an extremely rare customized Northrop Flight Test patch with the embroided name "JIM SANDBERG".
Left shoulder depicts an "US" Flag.
Right shoulder depicts a "F-5E" patch.
Hope you guys enjoy it!
Regards,
Jorge
