Note Worthy USN L.W, Foster 7823 (AER) Amended G-1

Hi All,

Did anyone here watch this auction http://www.ebay.com/itm/G-1-Flight-Jack ... true&rt=nc play out? These 7823 (AER) model jackets are the basis of my vintage jacket collecting & this one would have made for a good fit for me so I paid close attention to this auction!

This jacket was most interesting and not a run of the mill! It exhibited an unusual colored lining and was near flawless. Although I initially contemplated bidding on this jacket upon further examination I reluctantly decided to pass. There was one exception to this otherwise fine jacket & what appeared to be a factory FAUX Pas to the male side of the zipper assembly. That string of empty stitches are what I would have figured would have made this particular jacket a reject! Ultimately, those empty stitching's seen adjacent to the male side of the zipper assembly are what made me pass! Not to mention, this particular G-1 obviously once passed through John Chapman's hands at one time or another as John's comments about this jacket was referenced.

What really surprised me the most was the price this jacket brought :?

Cheers, Dave

Heck of a nice looking G1.
Unique.
John owned it...and thought it was authentic.
I actually contacted John about the auction when I saw it. He noted that he sold the jacket to a friend..that it was an amazing jacket in wonderful condition.

I recently was the lucky winner of a jacket with this exact same vintage.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/VTG-60s-G-1-USN ... true&rt=nc

I was shocked to find that this jacket is in almost brand new condition. A few moth nips in the cuffs. But the leather is virtually unworn. It had a few cobwebs behing the biwing pleats, and is a very trim fitting jacket. It will never have the broken in appearance of well worn jackets. I won't possibly be able to put that much wear into it.

Does anyone know the dates of production for this contract?
