The large prop/wing patch looks to be one of the civilian flying training school(CPT) types they had back then , I've seen others very similar to it , so his jacket isn't issue and probably the reason being in the flight school .......................

Would the civilian version have the Army Air Corp cadet insignia with Air Corps wings on it?

A lot of "Civilain" contract school trained flying cadets so I would think it possible they would ................

Holy crap. Without knowing the man I would only assume he would have been out there with all that bling as a Cadet. Rare to boast BEFORE you achieve the endstate...

oh, I can imagine a graduation picture by the flying school with pilot's wings on the flying school jacket.

That's what I think the photo is of, a grad that had the photo taken after he got his wings , but probably didn't have an issue jacket and the school guys probably had this one as a loaner and thus this photo is the end result, he may have also had it taken to send to Girlfriend to "Impress" her of his "skills" :D
