I also already have that problem with my military collection. well my mom sees it that way. "you already have two parachutes Dimitry. You don't need another. Don't make me take your card away again!"

Five star is a pretty good value for the money, I'd recommend the Dubow, that's probably Shawn's most accurate repro to date.

If you want to invest more, you can get a Platon's Dubow. It's the bee's knees, but waiting times are long. Unless a 2nd hand pops up. Look at the buy/sell section, also on Facebook. You can get some good bargains.

What I've learned over the years is 'never compromise'. If you want something, and you get something that's almost like it, but cheaper (not talking about Fivestar here!!), it will end up bugging you, you'll sell the jacket, lose money and end up buying the one you wanted in the first place.

Why not try one, get the Dubow... Then you have something to reference for fit etc.
Be brave dear soul. Wait until you fall head-long into the nuances and details of these jackets, what makes them so iconic and interesting... And then start wanting an original... ELCs, GWs, and BKs.... Or other high end jacket makers....

Yes, use the money to get your Private Pilots license... that's what this hobby will cost you over the years.
I already got a solo rating in an ASK-13. I'm in CAP so I'm working on scholarships. I have an extremely deep passion for aviation. Last summer i got into National Blue beret(Near impossible) to air marshal at Oshkosh for air venture but this little thing called Covid got in my way.

If you don't mind a bit of a wait, Platon's Dubows are big bang for the buck.
There are a couple of decent ELCs and Buzz Rickson's on Ebay, saw a 36 on there earlier...
