No-name W535-AC-27753 (Cable).. Horsehide or cowhide???

Good morning fellas

I just received my first A-2, a No-name W535-AC-27753, I normally wear 42 in G-1’s but this is one is 40 so I took my chances. The condition is great for being 77 years old, the leather is in amazing condition (special thanks to @Maverickson for the conditioning tips), inside lining is intact, some dirt but from normal use, the knits have a couple moth holes here and there but totally normal due the nature of this material and the years on it.
My question is if someone here could tell if it’s horsehide or cowhide..

Cor what a beauty! Great colour and spot-on fit. Good hat too. Impossible to say without DNA testing, but I would go so far as to say it looks like horse to me.

According to Gary Eastmans book on A2 jackets , your jacket is listed as a horsehide A2. This evaluation was based on a visual inspection of the jacket, according to Gary Eastman.
