Is that pre-distressed look of the hide really from the factory? Is that the was it supposed to look?

They did more extreme ageing jobs than that at the time, artificial repaired rips and the like.

If LVC's preaged denim is anything to go by, they duplicated originals in their collection, blemishes, mends and all.
